Oxford County Commissioners reviewed a funding request from the Town of Newry for assistance on a road project that would provide access to Riley Township in the Unorganized Territory (UT).
Chair Lisa Keim raised a legal concern about using UT-designated funds for projects outside the Unorganized Territory and cautioned that the same ‘‘essential road’’ argument could be made for many roads. Administrator Loper was asked to share Newry’s letter with UT Fiscal Administrator Chip Jones so county legal options and constraints can be clarified.
