Emergency manager outlines grants, IT upgrades and drought outlook

Tom (Thom) Bozeman, the county's Emergency Manager, Fire Warden and interim IT director, gave a combined report that covered emergency management grants, siren upgrades and IT work. He said a network refresh is complete and that stages 2 and 3 of the upgrade are entering planning; deployment of Tyler software for the Clerk and Treasurer is underway but slowed by M365 tenant issues. Bozeman said procurement timelines have been affected by a lapse in the WYDOT contract and noted ongoing grant paperwork that remains to be finalized.
On grants, Bozeman observed, "BRIC Grants may return but no longer focus on pre-disaster projects, focused primarily on recovery efforts." He also noted a below-normal precipitation outlook for the next 60 days and that county drought designations are returning to Moderate Drought/Abnormally Dry. The board accepted his reports by motion.
