The Cass County Commission on Jan. 21 voted to approve Resolution 26-07, authorizing the treasurer's office to enter an agreement with John Elmer KGA service for professional consulting and audit services.
A county staff member identified in the record as Steve described the work as an "annual opportunity" to have the audit performed by John from Sequoia and said the review helps the county recover state reimbursement for overhead costs related to child support and several grant programs. "It usually, pays off to do it," he said. The motion to approve passed with a recorded vote of three in favor, zero opposed.
Commissioners did not raise substantive questions during discussion. The staff explanation said the audit assesses eligible overhead for the building, office payroll and affiliated support services and determines how much the state will reimburse; no dollar figure for the contract was specified in the meeting discussion. The commission recorded the resolution as adopted and moved on to the next agenda item.
The resolution will be processed by the treasurer's office according to county contracting procedures; no additional hearings or public notifications were announced at the meeting.
