Clay County awards highway equipment purchases and Lateral 50 cleaning contract

Clay County Highway Superintendent Rod Polley presented bids for fuel, equipment and materials through 2018. Commissioners authorized the purchase of a 2019 Freightliner chassis with a pusher axle for $117,190 on the state bid; Polley and the board also accepted various low fuel bids throughout the year (examples include Jerry’s Service and Brunick’s Service at different times) in rolling procurement actions.
For ditch work, the county opened bids for cleaning Lateral 50 and selected Pollman Excavation’s low bid of $51,630 to perform the clearing and spoil leveling work. The board also opened a public bid for a dump body and later awarded the contract to Sanitation Products after a specifications review.
