The St. Bernard Parish Personnel Board voted unanimously on Jan. 21 to create a Water Treatment Plant Operator job series intended to bring currently contracted water-treatment duties back in-house. The motion, moved by Cullen Tonry and seconded by Timothy P. Doody, passed with votes from Chairman George Imbraguglio and the two other members present; Lisamarie K. Brandon and Dr. April Lavergne were recorded absent.
Joelle R. Michel, director of human resources, told the board that "the individuals currently performing these duties are contracted and that the Administration would like to bring the work back in-house, as it had been previously." Mr. Imbraguglio added the paygrades are intended to ensure "the positions are comparable with similar roles in other local entities." The minutes list the new titles and paygrades as: Water Treatment Plant Operator-in-Training (PG 4); Operator I (PG 6); Operator II (PG 7); Operator III (PG 8); Operator IV (PG 9); and Chief Plant Operator (PG 12). No implementation timeline or hiring plan was recorded in the minutes.
