Principal Patricia Dimitri introduced the William Monroe Middle School spotlight and framed the school’s work as rooted in relationships and aligned with the division strategic plan. “It's truly an honor to serve as a principal of the school community that is grounded in our school community that is grounded in relationships,” Dimitri said, noting initiatives including a 1 School, 1 Book program and expanded electives such as theater, culinary and STEM.
Dimitri described efforts to support teachers through faculty focus groups, new-teacher cohort meetings and department book studies aimed at instructional improvement. She said the division uses ParentSquare for weekly family communication and highlighted experiential learning—grade-level trips to the American Shakespeare Theater in Staunton, Virginia—and student-centered events such as the Dragon Magic Academic Showcase. Board members responded with praise and thanks for the presentations and student participants.
