We have 6 units that are staffed that have heart monitors 24/7 going across the county," Brown said. Finance staff said $150,000 was already in reserves for an ambulance purchase and an additional ~$165,000 would be required to complete the purchase.
Deputy Chief Brandon Ream (S11) confirmed that a Patterson Foundation grant was awarded to buy five new life‑packs (cardiac monitors) and that one additional unit would be needed to reach the department’s target. Commissioners agreed the ambulance replacement was a high priority and indicated support to proceed; the life‑pack purchase is partially grant‑funded and staff said trade‑in credit would be applied for older units.
The commission did not take a formal vote but characterized the ambulance replacement as approved to move forward with procurement steps and grant reconciliation.
