Pappy's Farm honored with Utah Century Farm designation

Maggie Matthews of Utah State University Extension explained that the Century Farm and Ranch designation recognizes farms in continuous agricultural production for more than 100 years and that are family owned and practicing sustainability.
"Pappy's Farm... were officially started in 1926 by Greek immigrants, Alex and Inez Papageorge," Matthews said, noting the operation is now run by Ted and Debbie Papageorge, their three children and manager Jim Manny and milks about 50 registered dairy cattle.
An awardee representative described the family's history, outreach to local schools and efforts in registered dairy operations. Commissioners congratulated the family and noted the farm's role in educating students and contributing to the county's agricultural tradition. The recognition involved presentation of a certificate and sign and an opportunity for photographs.
