Board renews Crescent View West charter, approves five-year MOU after Q&A on student outcomes

The Fresno County Board of Education voted to renew Crescent View West Public Charter School’s petition for a five-year term (07/01/2027–06/30/2032) and adopted resolution number 2026-23 after a staff presentation and a Charter Committee recommendation based on data reviews, interviews, and a site visit. Dr. Jeffrey Hunt summarized the committee’s unanimous recommendation and the board moved and passed the resolution by roll-call vote.
During discussion trustees pressed the charter’s representatives for details on student outcomes. When asked about supports for African American students and current reading levels, the Crescent View representative said, "most of our students' reading levels are between the 5th and 6th grade level," and described plans to provide site studies, targeted tutoring, adjusted course offerings and partnerships with local colleges to expand remediation and postsecondary pathways. The charter also reported typical year-round enrollment fluctuating between about 1,600 and 1,800 students and acknowledged math as a continuing focus for improvement. Following the discussion the board approved the renewal and separately approved a five-year MOU to formalize oversight expectations, fiscal reporting, and local indicators.
