Resident urges county to pave Road 255; commissioner says it’s on the list

Gigi Gilbert, a resident, told the Coryell County Commissioners Court she recently moved to Highway/Road 475 Henry Road 255 behind the firehouse and asked when Road 255 will be paved end-to-end.
"I'd like to know how soon we can expect that to be done," Gilbert said, noting dust and safety concerns from heavy feed-truck traffic near a feedlot.
Commissioner Weddle responded that the road is on the county's paving list and that staff had discussed the location with the road-and-bridge administrator and the local fire chief. "We know it's on the list," Weddle said, adding that the county's paving schedule slipped after an extraordinary flood event that set road work back. He offered Gilbert his contact card and said he would provide a current update.
The exchange emphasized safety concerns: Weddle noted the travel needs of local fire trucks and acknowledged dust and speeding from commercial traffic. Gilbert said the dust was creating a health nuisance for residents.
The court did not take immediate action at the meeting but Weddle offered to follow up with a more current status and contact information for next steps.
