Page County officials and Virginia250 committee members updated the Board of Supervisors on local commemorations for the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.
Committee speakers said the county adopted a Virginia250 resolution in October 2022 and formed a 13‑member committee representing the county’s five districts and three towns. Plans include four large bronze markers recognizing colonial patriots, industry, religion and agriculture; the markers will be sited in Page County and in the towns of Luray, Stanley and Shenandoah.
Presenters also described a 90‑foot mobile history exhibit and a schedule of public dedications and living‑history events starting May 22 at Shenandoah and extending through a September 5 commemoration. Committee volunteers and local craftsmen, including a donated stone base and reduced production costs, were credited with lowering project costs.
Presenters asked supervisors to attend upcoming dedications; the county’s tourism council used restricted transit‑occupancy tax revenue to fund the markers, staff said.
