A board member moved to approve the permit with amended conditions requiring the applicant to provide periodic documentation — including photographs or video — of the cliff and to submit to regular safety inspections. The motion passed with six votes in favor and one abstention from a supervisor who said they were an adjoining property owner.
Staff said the attached permit conditions in the packet address building‑official comments and safety of equipment; the Planning Commission had requested a site visit and updates to draft conditions after public comments. The board’s amendment formalized a plan to track cliff conditions on an annual basis and rely on existing complaint and enforcement processes should problems arise.
The board’s approval allows Checkers LLC to offer commercial outdoor recreation at the campground subject to the agreed conditions. The county will revisit compliance through staff inspections and complaints, and the permit remains subject to standard building and safety permits.
The board moved on to the next agenda item following the vote.
