Road commissioner eyes $9,999 tree-removal work, will seek VTRANS safety grant

Road Commissioner Robin Gutierrez reported Dec. 17 that she has compiled a prioritized list of rotted or dangerous trees in the town right-of-way and that D.J.'s Tree Service has offered to remove as much of the prioritized work as possible under a $9,999 contract estimate. Robin said the list is scoped to only the trees that "MUST be removed" for safety; D.J.'s will review the list and return a work confirmation list to the town before work begins.
Robin also raised a VTRANS safety grant opportunity that covers tree removal, guardrail replacement and signage with no local match. NRPC's Kyle Grenier offered help preparing the application and Assistant Donna Bohannon volunteered to assist. The board supported Robin and staff working with NRPC on the grant application, and the tree-removal item will remain on future agendas until completed.
