Road commissioner to prioritize dead and dangerous trees; DJ's Tree Service to submit proposal

Road Commissioner Robin Gutierrez reported on Dec. 3 that DJ's Tree Service is willing to duplicate the previous contract structure to perform a second round of 'dead and dangerous' tree removals around the island. Gutierrez said she will compile a list of candidate trees on Church Road, Bruley Road, East Shore, Shrine Road and an area she described as "Little Canada," then ask DJ's to submit a prioritized proposal and cost estimate.
The board authorized Gutierrez to speak with landowners about removing overhanging limbs on privately owned trees and to determine which landowners want to retain wood from removals. Gutierrez and Donna Bohannon will coordinate landowner notifications and logistics.
