Contractor reports steady progress on campus buildings; board schedules site tour

A project presenter gave trustees a detailed construction update on multiple buildings at a district site, reporting steady progress and a near‑term site tour for trustees.

He said exterior siding has been completed in many areas, interior drywall and paint are underway, and t‑bar ceiling installation is imminent in Building A; about 75% of inner-court concrete flatwork has been poured and site grading and machinery are scheduled to prepare the basketball court and landscaping. He noted coordination with utilities and inspection agencies, describing a dispute between DSA inspection and PG&E expectations about concrete testing for transformer pads; staff said they will document test results and coordinate with regulators. "They're about to put the t bar ceiling, the drop ceiling," the presenter reported.

Trustees asked whether material cost increases had been avoided and were told the contractor procured certain materials (e.g., plywood) in advance to lock prices, which helped avoid recent price spikes. The board discussed furnishing and final equipment costs and said some of those expenditures will be taken up by oversight and bond committees; staff suggested a site tour on June 4 so trustees can see near-complete work.
