Staff outlines options after repeated meter tampering; camera and hardware considered

Following reports of repeated meter tampering, public works operator Bobby explained why a temporary cap would be difficult to install and outlined deterrence options including owner-installed locking housings and stronger padlocks. He said staff will attempt to secure the meter box and evaluate hardware that resists cutting.
Bobby warned that capping the line would require significant plumbing work and likely would be reversible by someone determined to tamper with the system: "Capping the line ... it would be difficult ... we'd have to cut it ... and then we'd have to get another plumber in there to re-put it all back together." Councilors discussed using game cameras, parking a city truck over the meter, and offering a spare heavy manhole cover; Bobby said he will try anti-cut padlocks and coordinate a site visit with Best Septic for a camera inspection.
