Architexis consultant Alexis McKinney told the court the building has several code‑compliance issues: it lacks a fire sprinkler system, some stair clearances fall below modern exit requirements, and restrooms renovated in 1987 no longer meet current ADA standards.
McKinney recommended adding a fire sprinkler system to improve egress viability and safety, and showed programming layouts to add accessible restrooms on the first and second floors (in addition to one in the basement). She explained that converting some spaces to ADA‑compliant restrooms may reduce overall fixture counts and that the master plan will include drawings and options for restroom placement.
