Council OKs $1,500 now and $1,000 later for Jason Wiener event

Mayor (chairing the meeting) moved the split allocation, saying, “So I move that we allocate $1,500 now and the other thousand when we get our new money.” Councilors seconded the motion and the roll call vote carried.
City Recorder (speaking during the discussion) told the council there was roughly $6,000 in RTMP carryover from last year and that the town usually receives its new allocation in November but it sometimes arrives later. Jason Wiener said the $2,500 request “really helps in terms of just course maintenance and stuff,” describing the event dates as May 17–18 and emphasizing its local benefit.
Councilors discussed related costs for a bikeway sign and whether the town should pay the full amount up front; members agreed the split payment addressed timing concerns. The motion passed on roll call with all members present voting to approve the allocation.
The council recorded the action and asked staff to note the second payment should be made when the next RTMP distribution is received.
