Yoncalla preschool fills up; elementary school plans Fall Reading Festival

Preschool Director Megan Barber told the board that preschool for the coming year is full and that staff used a "Soft Start" model this year that included substitute teacher training.
"Preschool is full for this year," Barber said, adding that the program's goals include improved communications and consistency aided by a communications survey and one-on-one conversations with families. Barber said staff found individual conversations especially insightful for understanding family needs.
Elementary Principal Lancelot Falcon reported a successful ice cream social open house and announced a yearlong bottle‑drop fundraiser. Falcon also said a Fall Reading Festival is scheduled for Oct. 29, with food and free books so every family will leave with a book.
These program updates were presented for information; no board action was requested or taken during the reports.
