Yoncalla High School cancels 2025 football season amid injuries

High School Principal Chelsea Ross informed the board on Aug. 20 that the 2025 high school football season has been canceled because of injuries sustained by players.
"Due to injuries, the 2025 high school football season has been canceled," Ross told trustees during the High School Report. Ross also recapped other student activities: about 20 seniors attended Senior Sunrise, a Kinder‑Senior breakfast welcomed kindergarteners on their first full day, a Greek‑themed Homecoming is scheduled for Oct. 6–10, a chess club started by Matt Sybrant is underway, and Eagle Swag merchandise will be available at concessions.
Ross said the PSAT is coming up and that 10th graders must take one assessment and will be offered two options to choose which best fits them. The minutes do not specify plans for replacement athletics or alternative student activities related to the canceled season.
