Okmulgee school board rejects two appointment attempts, votes to call special election for June 10

Vickie Jones then moved to appoint Sarah McIntire (seconded by Leroy Parker); that motion likewise failed 2–2 (Aye: Parker, Jones; Nay: James, Baldridge). Following those results the board approved Mr. James’s resolution asking the Okmulgee County Election Board to conduct a special election and directing the board clerk, in coordination with district counsel, to provide notices and take all actions required by law.
The board’s public minutes record the motion to call the special election as having passed with all present members voting Aye (Parker, James, Jones, Baldridge). The votes and the June 10 election date were entered into the meeting record; the clerk and district attorney were tasked with completing the statutory notices and procedural steps required under state law.
