Council keeps Tuesday 7 p.m. meeting schedule after brief alternate-time request

The Lowell City Council agreed at its July 1 work session to retain the current meeting schedule — work sessions on the first Tuesday and regular meetings on the third Tuesday of each month, both beginning at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Maureen Weathers called the session to order at 7:01 p.m. and the council reached consensus to keep the schedule in place.
Councilor Tim Stratis raised an alternate preference, saying, “Friday at 6:00 PM would be ideal,” but acknowledged the community’s habituation to Tuesday evenings and accepted keeping the current times. City Administrator Baker asked that the council attempt to limit meetings to “a 2-hour maximum when possible” and proposed placing the most pressing items at the top of agendas to help meet that goal. The council endorsed that approach and directed staff to organize agendas accordingly.
