County raises pay for temporary election workers; judges' training rate increased

Elections administrator Hayes asked the court to raise pay rates for temporary election workers, saying the last increase was in 2019.
"Now I'm asking that we go from $12 an hour to $14 an hour for presiding and alternate judges, election day clerks from $10 to $12 an hour, and then early voting clerks from $10 to $12 an hour," Hayes told the court. She also requested raising the flat training rate for judges from $20 to $35.
Hayes said the requested increases were budgeted and that poll workers perform essential duties that enable the county to run elections. Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the resolution with no recorded opposition. The judge and commissioners thanked Hayes and staff for managing election operations and noted the importance of poll-worker recruitment and retention.
