TSHL representative seeks a Guadalupe County volunteer to join statewide seniors' legislature

Ed Rogers, who identified himself as deputy speaker pro tem of the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature, asked Guadalupe County commissioners to help recruit a local representative to the statewide, all-volunteer advocacy group for older adults.
"I'm here on behalf of over 28,000 older adults and voters here in Guadalupe County," Rogers said, and offered brochures and a two-page summary of qualifications so commissioners could refer potential nominees. He said the TSHL brings resolutions to the Texas Legislature on issues affecting people age 60 and older and is self-funded.
Rogers told the court he is the Alamo Area Agency on Aging representative for Kendall County and that, to his knowledge, Guadalupe County has never had a TSHL representative. He said the materials he left are intended to recruit volunteers and to inform commissioners who might recommend candidates.
The judge thanked Rogers for his remarks and said the materials would be accepted and reviewed. No formal action was taken during the meeting; Rogers asked commissioners to follow up if they knew of suitable volunteers.
