Commission approves lease extension with City of Memphis for 201 Poplar space

Esther Sykeswood, Land Bank Administrator, told commissioners there was no prior written agreement for the City's use of the space, though the City had been paying for occupancy. She said exhibit A listed judges'chambers, city court clerks, MPD property room and other city court functions occupying about 12,910 square feet on some floors, and that the 12th floor remained a police dispatch facility subject to different terms. Commissioners pressed for clarity about which city divisions used which rooms and asked staff to research how long the City had been occupying the space without a written lease.
The motion was approved by voice vote. Commissioners asked staff from legal and purchasing to follow up on historical payment records and to supply additional documentation to the full body.
