At a May 5, 2026 meeting at Chewelah City Hall, the Chewelah Civil Service Commission voted unanimously to schedule a workshop on June 8, 2026 to revise its Civil Service Commission Rules and Procedures. Commissioner Carra Nupp made the motion to schedule the workshop; Commissioner Cindy Wilmoth seconded the motion, and the vote was unanimous.
During the meeting the commissioners discussed priorities for the rule revisions. Commissioner Cindy Wilmoth emphasized that “the highest priority should be on aspects of the rules which are unique to Chewelah’s circumstances,” and Commissioner Carra Nupp said the primary goal should be to “foster greater clarity in procedures and expectations.” The commission resolved to reference the City’s current policy manuals and the Civil Service Rules of other jurisdictions to prepare detailed notes ahead of the June workshop.
The scheduling motion records that the commission intends the June 8 session to be a workshop focused on drafting revisions; the minutes do not specify a start time, agenda for the workshop, or any planned public-notice procedures. The commission did not take any formal adoption action at the May 5 meeting; the motion scheduled a workshop only. The minutes note the motion carried unanimously.
