District leaders told the board the district received a competitive state summer learning grant to provide extended learning opportunities over the next three summers and confirmed the district's summer food service dates.
The chair stated the grant will provide 80 hours of instruction for all grade levels and include literacy-focused programming at lower grades and credit-recovery options at the high-school level. The chair noted the award is recurring for three years and will allow programs the district had not previously offered, such as visiting Wildlife Safari and other enrichment experiences.
On nutrition, the district confirmed the summer food service will operate June 15 through August 13 to ensure students have access to meals during the program period. Administrators said recruitment has been strong for summer sessions and that more detailed enrollment numbers will be reported when available.
