The Burrillville Town Council voted to authorize issuance of a school construction bond not to exceed $6,400,000 to fund a package of prioritized capital projects. Administration presented three funding scenarios and identified critical projects including Callahan School roof replacement, two gym floor replacements, window replacements and HVAC/cooling improvements identified in the superintendent’s capital list.
Town administration described alternatives ranging from a smaller $4 million package to a fully funded $6.4 million scenario that would capture more state reimbursement; the council debated market timing, debt service implications for FY‑27 and project prioritization. "We, the town council ... authorized the bond about the $6,400,000," the town manager/administrator (speaker 2) explained when summarizing the history and reimbursement expectations.
After discussion of contingencies, reimbursements and potential budget impacts, a motion to authorize the bond passed. The council noted that detailed project scoping and prioritization will be coordinated with the school committee and administration before bond issuance and project execution.
