SAIF, OTLA proposal prompts WCB advisory committee on cost-bill submissions

The Workers' Compensation Board told MLAC it received a joint proposal from SAIF Corp. and the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association in August seeking changes to the process and documentation required for cost-bill submissions. Cathy Ostrand, the Board’s assistant managing attorney, said the Board appointed an advisory committee in December to address the concept and that the committee is meeting now; a final report will be presented to the Board for consideration.
Ostrand framed the advisory committee as a stakeholder process to refine documentation and submission procedures; MLAC did not take a formal position at the Jan. 8 meeting. Board staff did not provide final recommendations during the meeting and said timing will depend on the advisory committee’s work and the Board’s consideration of its report.
