Juliet Lopez, Spring Lake Beach manager, told the Burrillville Town Council on Jan. 14 that the beach had a “really good year,” with visitor counts she estimated at about 7,000 and a modest positive financial result after repairs and staffing costs.
Lopez said credit‑card processing fees totaled more than $5,000 during the season; staff plan to adjust point‑of‑sale handling and consider passing a fee through or changing how payments are processed to reduce costs. "We probably got about, maybe this year is, like, maybe 7,000 coming down," Lopez said when asked about attendance, and later acknowledged the credit‑card fee issue and steps to address it.
Councilors praised staff and discussed promoting Chalkon Hall for rentals and potential winterization for year‑round use. Administration noted a forthcoming reorganization of budget line items and the possibility of larger capital improvements for the beach grounds in a future CIP (capital improvement program).
