Burlington council holds brief executive session on personnel; no public action expected

Mayor Bill Aslett called a special meeting of the Burlington City Council to order at 6:02 p.m. on April 20, 2026, and moved immediately into an executive session. City Attorney Leif Johnson recited the governing statute and told the council the session was convened "pursuant to RCW 42.30.110(g)" to evaluate the qualifications of an applicant for public employment or to review the performance of a public employee.
Johnson said the executive session was expected to last about 10 minutes, from 6:04 p.m. until 6:14 p.m., and then asked for an additional five minutes, extending the expected end to 6:24 p.m. The session closed at 6:25 p.m.; Johnson told the council there was "no expected action at the conclusion of the Executive Session." Mayor Aslett then adjourned the meeting at 6:26 p.m. No motions, votes, or formal employment actions were recorded in open session.
