Sheriff's Office materials included a project narrative describing targeted overtime patrols using crime-mapping data and seasonal enforcement in tourism and event periods. Meeting minutes record that McClendon explained the overtime grant; Chairman Ross Selman stated the grant amount as $29,997.83 and moved to approve the contract. The motion was seconded and carried unanimously.
The grant application and supporting letters from local school districts and the sheriff highlight that Pittsburg County covers a large rural jurisdiction with seasonal spikes in visitors at Lake Eufaula, Robbers Cave State Park and other recreation areas. The sheriff's office said grant funding would allow deputies to increase high-visibility patrols during evenings, weekends and holidays, and sustain school-based prevention efforts.
