The Warrenton-Hammond School District 30 board voted to approve its Student Investment Act (SIA) plan, which the superintendent described as part of a state integrated guidance document combining several grants.
Superintendent Goodall summarized the district's planned investments: a literacy coach at the grade school, curriculum purchases and staff training for literacy, counselors at every school, districtwide special-education behavior support, and a STEAM teacher at the grade school. Goodall said the SIA plan "is amendable" and noted the state has combined multiple grants into an integrated guidance plan.
Board members questioned whether future state budget cuts could jeopardize the funding and asked how training would be implemented. Goodall said, "These funds have already been allocated, and we get it quarterly, I believe," adding that while the money is "pretty locked in," state allocations can be adjusted in rare circumstances. On training, Goodall said teams often bring in substitutes so teachers can attend training during the day.
