Insurer raises concerns about food pantry at Town Office; Selectboard offered meeting with PACIF representative

Chair Peter Brzozowy reported an update about insurance for the town‑office food pantry. He said the town’s insurer (PACIF through VLCT) expressed two main concerns: stored food could attract vermin and the practice of opening the Town Office outside normal business hours to allow people access to food raises health and liability issues.
Brzozowy said the PACIF representative "highly recommend[ed] against" opening the office during nonbusiness hours for food distribution and that a PACIF representative offered to attend a Selectboard meeting to discuss the insurer’s concerns. The board did not vote on any changes to the pantry practice at the Nov. 19 meeting and instead noted the insurer’s willingness to meet and provide guidance.
Separately, Brzozowy reported the revised town‑report contract has been signed and returned to the printer and that printing the full school budget report versus a summary changes costs by about $500.
