Commission maps out Isle La Motte 250th plans; seeks volunteers and possible town funding

Andrew Whipple, speaking by Zoom on Nov. 19, updated the Selectboard on planning for Isle La Motte’s 250th anniversary. The commission has met twice and has suggested several options, including participating in the Alburgh Independence Day parade, hosting an August celebration on the island and installing informational kiosks at historical sites.
Whipple said the commission is exploring potential grants to offset kiosk costs and is hoping to appoint a commissioner; he encouraged residents interested in helping to attend the next meeting on Dec. 4 at 6:45 p.m. via Zoom and in the town office. Selectboard member Cary Sandvig urged the commission to request funds promptly if needed because the town budget is being finalized.
