CDA highlights grant program that has leveraged roughly $225 million

The CDA reported awarding 67 community growth partnership grants (about $2.9 million) that staff say have leveraged more than $225 million in public and private investment across Carver County; staff also previewed a local housing trust fund RFP for non-CDA developers.
Melody Bridgeman, the CDAcommunity development director, reviewed the Community Growth Partnership and related economic development initiatives, saying the CDA has awarded 67 grants totaling about $2,900,000 and that those awards have leveraged more than $225,000,000 in public and private investment.
"Through direct grants from the CDA, cities and counties are eligible for any number of awards for those specific purposes," Bridgeman said, describing investments in redevelopment, affordable apartments, industrial parks and planning studies. She said the CDA set aside $203,000 of levy funds for a local housing trust fund to help non-CDA developers and expects to release an RFP in Q3 or Q4 to distribute multifamily funds set aside for non-CDA new construction.
Bridgeman also summarized small-business supports: the CDApartnership with NextStage served 24 clients in 2026 year-to-date, providing $225,000 in direct lending that leveraged an additional $943,000, she said.
