The Nahant School Committee moved through a sequence of budget-transfer motions to close out fiscal year 2026. Committee members approved roughly 16 transfers that together were reported as totaling $24,004.39 to move remaining balances into needed lines.
Committee member motions listed individual transfers by amount and target account — for example, a motion read, “Motion to transfer $1,435 from auditing to superintendent's office salaries,” and similar motions addressed transfers of $353, $130, $1,250, $162.22, $306.38 and other smaller sums across auditing, superintendent, principal, tutoring, technology and professional development accounts. Each motion was seconded and carried by voice vote; one motion recorded an affirmative count of five members present.
The series of transfers was presented as routine year-end bookkeeping to zero out or reallocate small balances so budget lines balance after the close of FY26.
