The Elmwood Park Mayor and Council on July 16 adopted bond ordinance 26-16, authorizing the borough to appropriate $400,000 to acquire a new ambulance. The ordinance came up on second reading; council opened the public hearing, heard no members of the public, and proceeded to a roll call vote.
Council members voted in favor and the motion carried. Councilman Sampson highlighted the operational importance of the purchase, saying the ambulance responded to a recent incident in under three minutes: "that ambulance was on scene in less than 3 minutes," he said, crediting local EMS and borough staff for the rapid response. The council recorded Councilman Fasolo as absent for the vote.
