Willington schedules community polling and targets Sept. 29 referendum for school project

Chair told the meeting the SBC is targeting a September 29 referendum and that the first public input steps are community polling events on Tuesday, Aug. 4 (6 a.m.–8 p.m.) and Sunday, Aug. 9 (10 a.m.–6 p.m.). The committee plans to use a ranked‑choice advisory poll for three options (A, B, C) and to accept comments in writing. A follow‑up community conversation is set for Sept. 2, a public hearing for Sept. 8, and a town meeting on Sept. 15. The superintendent offered guided tours of Hall Memorial during the polling dates by appointment to help voters see existing conditions.
Committee members discussed staffing for long polling hours, signage and sandwich boards, mailers and Facebook outreach, and the need to provide clear ballot language and updated mill‑rate impact estimates if the public requests geothermal or other premium options.
