The Select Board approved several highway spending requests at its July 27 meeting. The Chair moved and the board approved a $400 purchase order to North Country Signs to letter the department’s new trailer.
Separately, the board approved a $773 service/inspection request to PowerWash Sales / PowerAmerica for two shop lifts (quote: $292.50 per lift plus a $188 service call) after the Chair said there were no inspection records and “we’d bring in an expert” to verify the lifts’ condition. The Chair noted if the inspection shows the lifts are not suitable, the town will “scrap them.”
For fleet maintenance, the board accepted the low quote from Axle Surgeon to fabricate and repair a spindle on a 2005 International truck for $2,070 after comparing a higher quote from CT Axle and Spindle Service ($2,400). Each motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Board members clarified inspection frequency for equipment (annual checks were noted) and asked staff to treat recurring inspections as part of regular maintenance rather than one-time expenses where appropriate.
