The Maupin City Council adopted Resolution #06252025-01 on June 25 to increase monthly water, sewer and recycling fees effective July 1, 2025. City staff said gradual rate increases are needed to meet infrastructure requirements and to protect the city’s ability to finance future projects.
Councilors voiced concern about how higher rates could affect elderly residents. A correction to the fee schedule was noted during the hearing: irrigation fees should read $6.20 per month in the definitions. During public comment, resident Karen Miller asked, "Can the city collect back water and sewer fees?" The council’s recorded response was "No."
Councilor Mike Foreaker moved to adopt the resolution and Councilor Shelby Dumire seconded; the motion passed unanimously 6-0. The council made no additional deliberations and directed staff to implement the adjusted fee schedule with the July 1 effective date.
