The Newport Zoning Board approved a string of routine administrative actions early in the July 27 meeting. By separate motions the board granted 12‑month extension requests for 17 Bayview Avenue and 6.5 & 8 Cross Street, a nine‑month extension for 33 Cornet/Corn Street, and a 12‑month extension for 76 Van Zandt Avenue. Each motion was seconded and passed by unanimous voice vote.
The board also approved a request to withdraw the petition for 640 Thames Street without prejudice. The chair and secretary confirmed there were no written objectors for these items and that the standard condition — projects must begin and substantially complete within 12 months or request an extension — would apply to granted extensions. "I make a motion that we grant request for a 12 month extension for 17 Bayview Avenue," the motioner said during the meeting, and the board voted in favor with no opposition recorded. These decisions were treated as communications/consent items and do not change zoning policy; they extend applicants’ filing timelines under standard conditions.
