The Cheney City Council approved an interlocal agreement (Resolution F495) to use Spokane County's double chip-seal process for portions of Front Street, a less expensive preservation treatment than a full overlay.
Staff explained the county offers a program whereby municipalities can sign onto county schedules to have county crews apply double chip seal and fog seal treatments; Front Street (between Pine and Spangler Road) was cited as a candidate. The presenter said the approach could reduce costs relative to an overlay and noted Medical Lake had used a similar program funded through a TIB grant. Council members confirmed the work is in the city's budget and moved to approve the resolution by voice vote.
