The City Council approved Resolution F492 on May 12 to accept a used 2007 Seagrave aerial pumper from the Spokane Valley Fire Department for $1.
The presenter described the vehicle as a 65-foot aerial pumper with strong pump capability and noted Spokane Valley had invested an estimated $5,000–$8,000 to prepare the truck for transfer, including ladder and pump testing and replacement of a hydraulic pump. The presenter cautioned the hydraulic swivel is failing and recommended not placing a firefighter on the ladder while the ladder is turning until it is repaired, but said the truck will be a serviceable backup for Cheney and auto-aid partners. "So with that, happy to answer any questions, but if not, I'd ask for your approval for us to accept this amazing surplus vehicle," the presenter said. Council members praised the acquisition and the resolution passed by voice vote.
