Commissioners Mike Keith and Nathan Gabhart said Community Corrections has been operating from mobile offices for roughly 13 years and that recent heavy rainfall exposed deterioration in the modular units. The board authorized relocating Community Corrections into the Purdue Extension office at the Annex building and temporarily moving the Purdue Extension office to the Annex basement; commissioners emphasized they seek to provide a suitable long-term space for Purdue Extension as well.
Nathan Gabhart and Mike Keith said the courthouse renovation plan originally contemplated two buildings with all offices inside, but Community Corrections could not be accommodated in that footprint. The move is intended as an interim, practical solution to address immediate building and safety needs while staff work on more permanent facility planning.
