Union City approves easement for kayak and canoe launch along French Creek

Union City Borough Council unanimously approved on Aug. 13 an easement with the American Legion to install and maintain a kayak and canoe launch along French Creek on the American Legion ball field.
Solicitor Tim Wachter said he will draft the easement. The installation will be paid for with funds from the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and the Pennsylvania Environmental Council, according to the minutes. Councilor Osborn moved to approve the easement and Councilor Joyce seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
Council indicated Public Works would assist as needed with maintenance and that the agreement would formalize responsibilities for installation and ongoing upkeep of the launch.
