Union City backs Erie County plan to develop a new countywide comprehensive housing strategy

On Sept. 16, 2024 the council approved a resolution supporting Erie County’s effort to create a new countywide comprehensive housing plan, intended to generate recommendations to improve quality and affordable housing. The plan will be funded in part by MAP grant funding and Act 137 (Affordable Housing Act) funds derived from housing deed transfers.
Councilors noted several borough residents have applied for Act 137 funds that are income-based. Council moved to approve the resolution (motion by Councilor Osborn, seconded by Councilor Steadman); the motion carried unanimously. The resolution expresses the borough’s support for the county-led planning process but does not commit borough funds.
