Group proposes fully funded community mural at Veterans Memorial Park

Project organizers Mackenzie Hilzenberger of Community Heart and Soul and Sierra Athos, owner of SD Window Painting, introduced a community mural proposal for the Veterans Memorial Park bathroom wall and said the project is fully funded by a $1,000 sponsorship from ICCU with additional donations expected from a local hardware store.
Hilzenberger said the parks and recreation board has approved the mural design and asked the council whether the group needed formal council approval or only an opportunity for public comment. “We do have 1000 dollar sponsorship from ICCU already, so it's fully funded,” Hilzenberger said. The council thanked the presenters and indicated staff would advise whether formal approval was required.
