Monroe council approves five special events at Twining Park and Greene County Fairgrounds

The Common Council approved a Public Safety Committee resolution authorizing five special events across Monroe and Greene County.
The events include a Young People of Alcoholics Anonymous music festival at the Greene County Fairgrounds from Aug. 6–8; a faith addiction awareness 5K on Aug. 22 beginning and ending at 4th Street and 22nd Avenue; Monroe Bible Church’s community worship and picnic at Twining Park’s West Shelter on Aug. 16; the Monroe Police Department’s National Night Out in Twining Park on July 28; and the City Park & Rec Department’s Cars in the Park on Aug. 18 at Twining Park. The resolution specifies that no other similar activities may take place in the same areas during those events unless otherwise authorized.
A council member moved the resolution, it was seconded, and the clerk called the roll. Council members voted to approve all five events as presented.
