Michael told the board the destination office is undertaking a digital transformation: a new website scheduled for December will include direct hotel booking integration, a digital asset management system, and upgraded visitor guides for winter and spring. He said the office is using Datify to combine place, mobile and credit‑card data to better segment visitors and target efforts to increase long‑haul visitation.
He described a grant program he designed in partnership with the SCBA and county, saying if the program had a $3,000,000 budget he would allocate 25% to community grants (about $750,000) that would be distributed back into local projects. Michael also projected that raising average length of stay by 0.5 days would add about $168,000,000 in visitor spending and a one‑day increase would add about $334,000,000.
